Japanese Noh Mask
Our first project at Central required us to fabricate 400 year old Noh masks, this introduced us to sculpting, silicone and fibreglassing, busy first month! See below for process pictures
We started this project sketching and photographing the actual Noh Mask from the V & A
Then we sculpted. This was my first ever time sculpting and definitely the start of a long enjoyment for the skill
Normal mould making techniques followed
The fibreglass head was produced and with a flick of red primer allowed for all the details to pop
Painting, washing, making dirty and pulling hair through and the mask is made!
